Heroes and Goats The England heros were the two goal scorers Paul Scholes and Steve McManaman. Scholes' performance throughout the match was magnificent, very skilled dedicated and to cap it off - a great goal. Since Macca has joined Real Madrid, he has been rejuvenated as a player, back to the way he played during Euro 96. He played really well in the first half and it was sad to see him being stretchered off and it looks like he will be missing from the next game against Germany. The England goats have to be the defence. At times, it was like they weren't even present. Plus they gave away three great goals to Portugal
